Activation of a secondary-messenger receptor via allosteric modulation of a dynamic conformational ensemble

Researchers from Linser's working group have elucidated the activation mechanism of the 44 kDa homotrimeric c-diAMP receptor PstA using liquid NMR spectroscopy and MD simulations. This receptor is thought to bind to downstream target proteins via its extensive, highly flexible loops following neurotransmitter binding, thereby transmitting signals. The research findings were recently published in the journal Angewandte Chemie.
