She is a chemist. He is a philosopher. Both research and teach at Ruhr University Bochum. The married couple, Martina Havenith and Albert Newen, have each had impressive careers in their respective fields and raised two daughters together. And they did so when dual careers were still a foreign concept in Germany. They also benefited from the opportunities offered by the Humboldt Network, a network whose diversity the two hosts are strengthening through their involvement as scouts in the Henriette Herz Scouting Program.
