10th Summer School Solvation Science

The integrated Graduate School Solvation Science hosts an annual Summer School at the Ruhr University Bochum. The school always takes place after Whitsuntide and is an integral part of the iGSS students' training during their doctoral studies.

The 10th Summer School Solvation Science will take place from 21st – May 24th 2024 in Bochum

The lectures will focus on Solvation in living systems and biology; laser, spectroscopy and instruments to explore Solvation; nanomaterials; and Solvation structure and dynamics (macroscopic to nanoscale). As every year, there are also advanced laboratory hands-on modules on various topics. Check out Hands-On Series 2024  to see a list of confirmed laboratory modules.

In addition to the lectures and lab hands-on modules, career part with invited professionals outside academia will be offered.

The Summer School will start with welcome program with Dr. Mario Wiesenfeldt, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, ECR Board and Excursion to Altena Castle, that will take place in the afternoon.

We encourage keen and motivated Master and PhD students with an interest in Solvation Science, both from our local partner institutes and international students, to register at our Summer School.

We are pleased to welcome internationally renowned speakers in the field of Solvation Science to give keynote talks on their research during the Lecture Series. The session topics for 2024 are Biomolecular Systems, Lasers, Spectroscopy and Instruments to Explore Solvation, Nanomaterials and Solvation Structure and Dynamics (macroscopis to nanoscale) .

The Lecture Series is organized and chaired by members of our Graduate School and Early Career Researchers . Students are encouraged to continue the conversation throughout the week.
