Research opportunities for researchers at risk
The long-term goal of this scholarship program is to enable students and doctoral candidates to complete their higher education studies and support their academic freedom by providing a safe environment to conduct research. We provide funding for scientists at all career levels, from graduate students to visiting professors, to be hosted by one of our research groups for up to six months.
RESOLV provides a science-driven integrated graduate program in Solvation Science from BSc directly to PhD for the next generation of researchers in academia and industry, promotes opportunities for Early Career Researcher groups, and takes action to provide an environment that retains and supports a diverse range of talents in science. We encourage Master and PhD students worldwide, specializing in natural sciences, medical sciences or engineering to participate. No age limit applies.
Benefits for scholars include a six-month fully funded research opportunity at one of RESOLV's scientific groups, a premier international research environment. You will develop your scientific and professional skills while bringing your ideas to life. You will get a monthly stipend and a fixed-rate reimbursement for your travel expenses to Germany. This scholarship supports people who are currently living in countries classified as dangerous by the German government.
Regarding their credit plan, applicants may wish to plan their stay to attend the RESOLV Summer School Solvation Science in May 2026 (26th to 29th) or other RESOLV events. This plan can be updated according to the period of stay.
All participants need to have an international health insurance including repatriation in case of serious illness for full the period of staying in Germany.

How to apply
Please send all necessary documents to the RESOLV Office.
For your application, you will need to attach the following documents to the letter:
- one-page outline of your proposed project(s) within RESOLV. Please check the RESOLV website for more information about our reserach areas, the involved research groups and scientific disciplines.
- CV with contact details and affiliation (max. 2 pages)
- letter of motivation related to Solvation Science (1 page)
- diploma of your completed education level (Bachelor or Master) and transcript
Prerequisites
Current students or researchers in the fields of natural sciences, medical sciences or related topics of engineering disciplines currently living in a country where they are facing armed conflicts and/or war, extreme violence and/or political persecution.
