Summer School Solvation Science

The integrated Graduate School Solvation Science hosts an annual Summer School at the Ruhr University Bochum. The school always takes place after Whitsuntide and is an integral part of the iGSS students' training during their doctoral studies.

The (seventh) Summer School Solvation Science was supposed to take place from the 2nd to the 5th of June, 2020.

Due to the pandamic, the event could not take place as planned. Instead, an online workshop on various soft skills was organised on the 4th of June.

We encourage keen and motivated Master and PhD students with an interest in Solvation Science, both from our local partner institutes and international students, to apply for a place at our Summer School.

Soft skills Workshop 2020

4th of June 2020

Due to the Corona pandemic, the annual Summer School on Solvation Science had to be canceled in 2020.
To still be able to offer something to the participants, an online workshop for soft skills was designed and realised.

“We organise the Summer School on Solvation Science every year, and, despite the pandemic, we wanted to stick to this tradition and offer to young researchers an appealing online program”, says Prof. Martina Havenith, speaker of RESOLV.

The workshop offered courses on skills like Business Basics, Voice and Body Language, Job Hunting and Presenting in TED Style, and Stress Management for 40 PhDs and postdocs. All participants, teaches and students, gave positive feedback and were glad to attend the event despite the situation.
