Start of RESOLV's third funding period

With the beginning of the new year, the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV has officially started its third funding period (2026 to 2032).

Exploiting the transformative power of Solvation Science is key to address urgent scientific and societal challenges, such as transitioning from fossil to sustainable carbon and energy sources for chemical feedstock production.

The shift away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources is essential. Solvation Science will play a key role in developing innovative and unconventional solutions. Another focus will be the search for new approaches to chemical production. A fundamental transformation of production processes is necessary to utilize sustainable energy sources and minimize environmental impacts.

However, this can only succeed if research and industry collaborate closely and scientific findings are promptly incorporated into the development of innovative, environmentally friendly, and smart applications. Being located in the heartland of chemical industries, RESOLV is fostering the rapid translation of ideas into products. These collaborations with our industrial partners are set to intensify further following the establishment of our Transfer Lab.

New Research Areas

We will push the boundaries in the field of Solvation Science forward by unravelling the role of the solvent in charge and electron transfer (Area I), designing optimal solvent systems for chemical processes (Area II), and developing solvent engineering for product design to tune stability and homogeneity (Area III).
