Autumn onboarding 2026: new international members joining

Last week, RESOLV hosted its biannual welcome event for new students.

Studying away from home is exciting, broadens horizons, and offers new experiences. However, a new place may also bring new requirements and unexpected challenges.

To facilitate the start in their new study environment, RESOLV hosts an onboarding event for new international members twice a year to welcome them at Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund University, University Duisburg-Essen and Max Planck Institutes.

Last week, 15 new PhD students gathered at our research building in Bochum to learn more about their study program, meet fellow researchers, exchange, start building connections and become more familiar with both the RESOLV community and the Ruhr Area.

Part and highlight of our onboarding event is always an excursion during the weekend – this time to the stadium of Borussia Dortmund, a club of the German football Bundesliga (1st league). Participants included members of iGSS (Integrated School Solvation Science) and iMOS (International Master Program Molecular Sciences – Spectroscopy and Simulation) as well as this year’s winners of our Student Challenge. A joint lunch completed the event program.

We wish all new members a pleasant and successful time at RESOLV!
