MUST/RESOLV Gender and Science Meeting 2019

MUST/RESOLV Gender and Science Meeting 2019

Pathways for women in stem

Can you recall better the image of Marie Curie or that one of Albert Einstein? Can you name two female Nobel Prizes in science? And what are the future career perspectives for female scientists? On 9-10 September 2019, a two day meeting open to women and men to discuss how to build a gender-fair academy took place at the Ruhr University Bochum. The event was organised by the Cluster of Excellence RESOLV, in collaboration with the Swiss research network NCCR MUST (Molecular Ultrafast Science and Technology).

Martina Havenith, Speaker of RESOLV, and Ursula Keller, Director of MUST, talked about the measures in place at both institutes to support women scientists. Eva Reichwein gave an overview on DFG's equal opportunities measures, numbers and facts. And Nadine Afram from ETH/University of Zurich conducted a workshop on unconscious bias in science.

On 9th September, Christina Reinhardt, the Chancellor of the Ruhr University Bochum, joined the panel discussion with Ursula Keller, Enrica Bordignon and two female postdocs (moderator Anna Garry). Check the full program for more highlights.
